Friends, Family & Supporters of O.A.R,
As you know, with conscious efforts made in our touring and personal lives, we have always thought of ourselves as one of the more forward thinking bands when it comes to embracing initiatives to support both greening and a cleaner environment. This 2008 summer tour season will prove no different, as the band hopes to take another step forward by continuing to support a safer, more eco-friendly environment that fans can experience and learn from first hand at numerous dates on the upcoming All Sides Tour. These shows will provide an avenue where fans can learn and be part of an initiative that the band feels strongly about, and walk away with the appropriate knowledge, awareness, and encouragement to implement these actions into their own homes and communities. We would like to have you involved from the beginning by conducting a contest for our more artistic fans out there and offer you the opportunity to design the official logo/image/artwork for O.A.R.'s Summer 2008 All Sides Tour Green Dream. We will hold this contest for 2 weeks, beginning on May 6, 2008, and ending on May 20, 2008. Please send all submissions to oargreendream@gmail.com, in a jpg or pdf format. Please include LOGO in the subject heading. All files need to be smaller than 4 MB. Artwork submitted to the contest should reflect a cleaner, safer environment and can be created through any medium, i.e. paintings, sketches, photographs, graphic design, mixed media, etc. You will not be notified if your image is not chosen as the winner of this contest, but we thank you in advance for your participation. We will be choosing a winner before Tuesday May 27, 2008. The winner will have their artwork featured on our www.ofarevolution.com site, as well as Benj Gershman's www.lookatlife.com site, and be given an image credit at all sites and on all print materials it is used.
Additionally, we will also be looking for volunteers to help assist us in our greening efforts at each show that we implement this plan. The venues (cities) are: Capital Federal Park @ Sandstone (Bonner Springs, KS), Charter One Pavilion (Chicago, IL) Meadowbrook Music Center (Rochester Hills, MI), Merriweather Post Pavilion (Columbia, MD), nTelos Pavilion @ Harbor Center (Portsmouth, VA), Festival Pier-Penn's Landing (Philadelphia, PA), PNC Bank Arts Center (Holmdel, NJ), The Nikon @ Jones Beach Amphitheatre (Wantagh, NY), and the Tweeter Center (Mansfield, MA). You will be expected to work from the opening of doors to the conclusion of the show. Job description will entail working/manning the recycling centers that we have on-site in both the venue and in the parking lot, collecting recyclable materials, passing out flyers, spreading awareness of the greening initiative and numerous other duties. You will be provided with a pass for the show(s) you are working, an official O.A.R. Green Dream tee shirt, and signed materials from the band for your efforts. All volunteers that are chosen will also be entered into a raffle to receive a pair of tickets (2) to an O.A.R. headlining show over the next 12 months.
