no mention of live releases but thats ok. Jerry has a good point about the AUD recordings. i guess part of the concert experience is the crowd interaction.
like Richard saying in the DVD, its not like there are up on stage and were down there, its more like were all in this together type of thing

Yeah I really want to hear that '97 tape. What a tease Jerry. Either release that or play Bubblegum in full.

Jerry thanks for coming on.
I speak just for me but I am a fan that just wants to hear the shows badly. Not just ones I go too but all of them, with that said and I may be in the minority here but I WANT you to sell more live albums or do instant releases more often or Live Trax. I know its a business and I know we have been so lucky in the past, I just still look forward to those 15-20 great SBD shows each year. So I hope that you take this not as anger from the fans but the fact we love hearing all shows. I hope that everyone can be happy from label, the band and us. If it costs us some extra money, I don't mind one bit! Even if every few months their is a mix of some of the best versions of some tunes etc. The more shows available the better! Thanks so much. Word. There are a ton of people on this board who are up in arms about this change, but haven't had the thought to say "you know what, I've
lived off of everyone's tapes from the last 9 years, maybe I should help provide tapes for the next 9"

Hey Jerry, how about you guys just keep throwing the patchbox out there but don't listen to those tapes yourself. If you do want one, I'll dub some
crowd noise, retards yelling random shit and a lot of boomy bass into the tape. It'll sound just like those sweet AUDs.
I don't know, I guess I understand your points, but in the end it really just boils down to a preference and at that point why bother making the change? Isn't getting ANY kind of tape an improvement over no one taping? Some prefer the AUDS, some prefer the SBDs. I hardly ever dig out an old AUD tape I want to listen to, I find myself gravitating towards the SBDs because I wanted to listen to the band and I really don't care much what the experience sounded like. If these AUD tapes are sweet why don't we hear more of the "experience" on the official live albums? I realize the change was inevitable especially as the band moves on to larger venues and can't allow everyone to be getting at the board, but this just seems a bit premature. It really doesn't have much of an effect on me considering the amount of shows I've made it to in the last few years, but I can certainly sympathize with some of the guys who really preferred the clarity of the soundboard tapes. |

i sold my gear bc i needed some moeny fast
but unfortuantey at most venues is is a pain to record a aud show with a good location on top of that if you add the money you spent on gear and worryign about it being wrecked it just doesn't pay to ONLY record aud now recordign aud from a bad location...AND sbd that makes a good tape and a good representation of the good sound beign put out at the venue and the crown interaction if you are recording aud at a show and need someone to run security for you let me know...it was always very tuff to run the gear AND be my own security back in the day i'm still dissapointed with this choice and hopefully the desicion maker of this will change their minds thanks for the answer jerry

I always favored SBD recordings because I liked the 'high quality' of them (especially in the recent past when JP threw in the crowd noise), but you
can't argue that AUD recordings are paint a 'truer' picture of OARs shows.
ridiculous that people are so pissy about this; disappointed and/or 'oh shucks' - sure, me too. but livid and unintelligent like some of these post - absurd. I really need to find the pieces of my rig in my basement and tape this summer, I have a great small laptop that I picked up with tremendous battery life that I could use in Cincy, Indy, and Columbus...just gotta find my mic stand. Jeff sold me his rig for like $150 or so back in 2005. Best money I've ever spent, a battery box, couple of AT-83s and some cords. |

I can't believe I'm resorting to this level but "you guys are all retarded". The O.A.R. boys have been more than accommodating throughout the
years. So suck it up, buy some mics, or heaven forbid - try to enjoy to shows for what they are.
I'd like to propose a change to the tone of this thread. I'll start: JP - Thanks for always taking the time to be super accommodating and the special cage privileges while never being annoyed that you were in the middle of work Marc - Thanks for holding up the show and having me drag my mics up to the front row during that crowded instore. Joel - Thanks for countless times you came to the front of the house to reiterate to those pesky security guards that audience recordings are OK and yes.. "he can bring in his mics" Weeba - Thanks for taking me to many OAR show, carrying gear, and hitting "record" KANDA crew - Thanks for letting me crash houses, hotels, and constantly making me feel welcome Tapers - Thanks for getting me through those long hours of work, depressing days, and drunken afternoons Anyone else man up and stop acting so childish? I'll see you boys at Tweeter (boston).

I think the overall atmosphere here is shock more than anything. of course everyone is thankfully for all the years of SBD's but this was unexpected, more
than anything.
And Mike, that'd be great to get that 97 tape up. -Nick

I didn't read through this whole thread, but did someone suggest the possibility of a Summer 08 Live CD or a "Live-Trax" Series? That's a
strong possibility.

Since there record contract is studio, live, studio, live, etc. a large winter tour possibly would produce this. Since the new album songs will be worked out and sound better second tour around. At least the crowd will know the songs and be more into them. -Nick

Yeah I do. I'm saying that if you want to assume the will release a Live Tracks album (which may or may not be the case, no one knows) I don't think it
would be the summer. They already have a studio album coming out this summer. And the tour isn't as large as last year's summer tour. I think there
will be a huge winter tour. It's all OPINION and speculation, so I can't really be wrong or not know what I'm talking about.
