SBD's are great, but a good AUD is the way to go....i could see taping decreasing a little bit with this which is kinda weak, but again, thanks for the
years of great tapes I already have archived!

I can understand that it is a privlege, but the band has always loved fans taping. It is one factor that has allowed them to reach more and more fans.

it says aud mic's best capture an atmosphere of a live show. shouldnt this be up to the taper? if they want to tape aud, they will, no one is forcing them
to tape sbd.
i really think this is unfair, since no one forces tapers to tape SBD, ya know.

Yes, it has been a privilege that no bands their size allow. But do you forget why most of us have always loved and been so dedicated to this band? They were different, they showed the utmost appreciation for their fans. I am thankful for the way they have been over the years, but as they slowly take away all of the privileges they have given us, they are becoming more like every other band. Of course as long as I enjoy their music I will still listen to them, but I will in no way be as dedicated to them as I have always been. Some people think AUD recordings are better then SBD, I happen to disagree. That doesn't really matter, what does piss me off it that we no longer have that choice. Even worse than that, taping AUD is much harder and much more expensive, which means that we will now see MUCH fewer recordings. There are only a few people that frequent their shows that record AUD. Overall, I think this is a very bad decision and will do nothing but hurt the band. It only shows that they are starting to lose touch with their old ways. I would love to hear what Panda's thought is on this. |

It's going to do nothing but hurt the band. Taping is one way they have been able to reach many fans. Now with NO/LESS taping going on, well we just cant reach more fans now can we? I know personally one way that I have gotten people/friends into O.A.R. is by giving them GOOD QUALITY recordings that they love to listen too. I have gotten so many people into them just by making/giving them whole shows on cd. AUD recordings sound like shit. perfect example : http://www.archive.org/details/oar2007-07-14.belkin-tunetalk.flac16 Please listen to some of those songs. You cant even hear the music. All i hear is stupid girls screaming and static. I thought that it would never come to this. Maybe they are loosing touch with fans and the community. Boy I hope that the new album dosent reflect from these actions. I mean we have a new album comming soon (shit who the fuck knows when it is going to be comming out anymore.) and we havent heard a god dam thing about it. No updates, no mini movies(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_0N61b7Og4), no tracklisting, no cover art, no samples, NOTHING. And this comes from a band who loves keeping their TRUE fan base in touch. It is something that I LOVE aobut this band. They are always sayin hi and posting vids and pics. This past year not a god dam thing. I hate to be pissed off about this subject, but its hard not to be. This past year, i dont know if it was LFMG, but the band has changed. I still love them as much as I did when I first started listening to them. lets just hope that the album takes our mind off negative things, and back to good stuff. As always, looking forward to the album. Cant wait to hear it. edit: look at that documentary and it says it was spose to be released. I can no longer stand this thread.
Without SBD recordings people are starting to reconsider how much they like the band? What kind of fans are you then? Not in touch with their fans / the community? I'm sorry, but I don't think I've ever seen another place where a band O.A.R.'s size actually posts in their own message board. Fuck, none of you are in the band, so do not sit here criticizing why they did this just because we now will have fewer live recordings. They have their reasons, and its not up to any of us to make those decisions. There are 9 years of music in the archive and for anyone to complain about that is beyond me. I'm sure not a single one of us is very happy with the decision, but that doesn't mean the band is now heading towards their demise. Quit bitching and live with it. I'm sure there are much bigger and better things in store for the band this year. As they've said "2008 is going to be big". just my .02
and i can not sleep when this music is around...
