people are talking about how crazy it is that all these celebs are dying, but what people don't realize is how common this is going to be. 20 years ago,
the term celebrity barely existed. mass media & technology of today was a dream when i was born (mid-80's). now, there are so many damn celebrities. by
the time i'm in my 50s and 60s, at least one big name is going to drop dead every day. will we all have to take the whole day to sit and mourn him/her and
watch about it on the news?
i will say, however, that michael jackson is one of the few icons of my lifetime. he lived a really bizarre life, and i don't think anyone will ever understand him since he trusted nobody, but he definitely has made a big impact on the world of pop music and humanitarianism (and i'm sure some idiot will fix my post and immaturely add child molestation). |

VolZas22 wrote:This is dumb. Celebrities/Famous people have always died, the only difference is we probably just didn't care or notice. Most of us are in our mid-late 20s so celebrity deaths now are more than likely to have impacted our lives in some way. Do you think anyone currently under the age of 15 noticed Carradine's death? Even I didn't really think much about Farrah Fawcett or Ed McMahon, they weren't my generation, I never cared about them as celebrities. I wish I took more notice when Frank Sinatra died, he was a legend and I don't think I thought twice about it. And there is a major difference than celebrity and legend, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, David Carradine, Ed McMahon, and Fawcett I would call celebrities, but MJ is a legend. |

This thread reminds me of a joke I heard over the weekend I thought was funny. You may have heard it...hell it may have been posted and I just missed it...

So I decided to dedicate my keyboard to some of this weekend's casualties. The backspace button has officially been renamed "Michael Jackson" and
Caps Lock is now "Billy Mays." See facebook for pictures.
...yes I am that bored. |
