step up and go for the closest guy first and just get your stick on it, don't lay out like that, even if the goalie makes the save you have to be on your feet for the rebound with that 3rd guy coming in the high slot you know
I disagree... With his full momentum going backwards by the time he would have been able to step up and get to the closest red wing, he's already passing it off... He pretty much only had time to get back, and get down.
Barker layed out just as the pass was getting released, so even if he could have stepped up he was going to be late any ways.
On top of that, stepping up he would have been completely out of position for any rebound...
Not saying what he did was ideal, just saying there really wasn't much he could do at all... the Wing's played it about as best as you can and Barker just had to try to do something.
