picked up a sampler of heavy seas from clipper city brewing company...
loose cannon Hop3 is by far my favorite in there...really good if you like a really hoppy beer. it also had a really good pilsner called small craft warning. a little heavy for a pilsner but i like it, and the taste is great. there was also a peg leg stout which was ok, and a below deck barleywine that wasn't really that great. also picked up a 6er of the guiness 250, nothing great but not bad either. i would describe it as a guiness light i guess. |

grabbed a 6 of the weyerbacher hop infusion...delicious!
also got a youngs double chocolate stout...can never go wrong with that one. picked up a 22 of lagunista cappacino stout. it was ok, but not really thick like a stout. it had more of a consistency like the guiness 250. if i get a stout i want it to cling to the sides of the glass |

Picked up a Smutty Nose variety case yesterday. Also grabbed a sixer of Brooklyn Summer Ale and a new brewery call Duck Rabbit. Very good.

Its alright... I tried a few of their beers last year at some beerfest in NY when I had never heard of them as they weren't available in PA at the time.
Thought all of it was good but not particularly noteworthy. Seems to be all anyone is talking about in the Philly area right now though. I guess just because
its new here?

just found this place near my house - can put together you own 6 pack there. 81 pages is a lot to look through - anyone want to help me out and take a peek at the beers listed at the link above and give me a couple good suggestions? |

Friday was a great day. My brother and I went on a brewery tour. We drove out to Harrisburg to Troegs. On the sampling tray there was the Scratch 19, an Imperial Double Espresso Oatmeal Stout. From there we drove to Adamstown,
PA to Stoudts brewery where we had a pint of their Smooth Hoperator.
We then took off to Lancaster to Lancaster Brewing where we spilt a sampler tray of 11 brews. When we sat down a guy came up and asked if we wanted to be included in the shooting of a beer show called "Beer to Beer". We signed the waivers and drank some beer and talked to the host with cameras rolling. Was very cool. On the way out we got pelted by a wicked hail storm. Our last brewery we went to was Victory in Downingtown. I love their stuff. On the way out I bought a bottle of the Saison to put away for later. In all we sampled over 30 different beers through the course of the day. We had about 6-7 pints through the course of 7-8 hours so it was very manageable over about 200 miles of driving. To finish off the trip we headed to a beer store where my brother in law works and I got a family discount on a case of Sly Fox Odessey and my brother got a case of Victory St. Boistrous. Definitly looking forward to the next trip. I think Dog Fish Head is next on the list. |

i just bottled a american pale ale w/ blueberrys yesterday. i was going for a #9 style but with blueberry instead of apricots. hoping it will turn out good as
i have a general distaste for most readily available summer beers.

I kegged an english style pale ale on Friday. Tried it last night, but it still needs some more carbonation. I think it's gonna be good though.

Just started drinking a saison I bottled about a month and a half ago, I think it's my favorite beer that I've done so far. I'm soon doing a hopped
up hefe in the style of the Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse.

Chiefs: i dont know where you live exactly, but if you're ever in Philly, you should check out The Grey Lodge Pub.
They have 10-12 craft/micro brews on tap at all times (no domestics/mass produced beers on tap, only in bottles), plus another 20-30 in bottles and it rotates
from week to week.
If you've tried something and want it on tap, you can actually request it and they'll try and get it. My buddy did this a year ago, they called him like 3-4 months later and had it on tap for 4-5 days. |

Until I get tired of it I won't go into the city for craft/micro brew for a while. There are typically at least 1 or 2 kegs a day that kick so there is a consistant rotation. They have a stellar bottle shop also. It doesn't compete with Capones in the way of imports, but price wise it is much better. Was there twice last week for lunch over vacation. On Thursday a rep from Newcastle came in with samples of their new summer ale coming out in 2010. Was damn tasty. |
