my neighborhood has apparently become the wild wild west here in wrigleyville. thursday night a guy hid in the bathroom (they think) at the cubby bear and
waited until closing at which point he came out and robbed the place at gun point. then, last night a friend of mine from my friend's bar was walking down
my alley and got mugged by 3 dudes. he tried fighting them off and ended up getting shot in the stomach. luckily he's all right but man, that is some crazy
shit.

Crime on the north side had been ridiculous lately. Some dude was shot in the stomach in Lincoln Park last night too. That kind of stuff never happens.

I'm really worried about Jen living on a raised 1st floor unit. She is still on Southport but on the northern edge of 'pleasantville'. I'm going to buy her a Louisville slugger for xmas. Good thing is, she's not a "stupid girl" who would get trashed and walk home 2 miles by herself. She's pleasantly stubborn that she just take a cab anywhere. |

Good idea. I wouldn't live on the 1st floor without bars on the windows, but I'm also the queen of paranoia. That's why I prefer living in bigger
buildings - lots of neighbors, and the odds of someone breaking into my apartment are lower.
Although, there may be a homicide on my block soon. With the warm weather the past couple days, the two yokels who communicate by shouting out their windows were at it all weekend. |

Remember in middle school/high school when you studied the great depression? there was always that one part where the teacher would tell you how bad it was
that people would want to stay in jail because they would be guaranteed a bed and food that way.
well I just learned that my friend is going to jail for 20 days during late november and early december. he told me that he wasn't dreading it like most people. he said that he would enjoy the free meals, warm place to sleep, and electricity. I was laughing so hard after he told me this. he's gotten really deep into pharmies and he has just enough left over to pay for a place to sleep but not much else. my friends... :shakeshead |
