I'm sure if PVC or benny had seen this, they would have said something about it on league chat. They're not the type of people to stay quiet about
stuff like that.

exactly
it'd be too big of a hit to pvc's ego to know that we all talk shit about him off the league chat. i imagine he imagines what we say in league chat is all in good fun, and in reality we all love him because of what he brings to the league. |

agreed. No way they are reading comments about themselves and not chiming in somewhere about it.
Somewhat off-topic but I'm always surprised by how few people really even talk in the league chat over there. Its pretty much always the same people but yet all 32 owners are active and making moves for their team. I guess some people just aren't comfortable posting their thoughts or comments? If I make one post per day on there I feel like I'm dominating the chat. |

I rarely comment on messageboards but I frequently monitor them. I've been on this board since it started but have very few posts to show for it. Besides I
really have nothing to add to the league chat besides updates on how close I am to the worst record in the league.
I am excited about the draft on friday. My minor league system is really improving.

Never thought I would be in the position I am in heading into the season. Relativity cheap acquisitions have worked out great.
Rodrigo Manto has been a terrific lead-off man that I grabbed off the waiver wire. Jeffrey Butler has worked out spelling for 1B and COF. Jimmy Curtis signed cheaply for long-term as has been great when protected from lefties. Del Cortez has played a decent 2B and hit well in the #4 spot in the lineup. Pitching staff has been better than advertised, obviously. Highlight I think is Rule 5 selection Adam Ford rockin' the closer role. joe.bader@gmail.com AIM - badercubed www.badercubed.com

I didn't realize Rodrigo Manto was having that kind of season - he should be tested for 'roids!
Its looking good for the NL West to send 3 teams to the playoffs this year - and once again my team is catching fire in the 2nd half of the season. I'd love to see Billy Hernandez lead San Fran to a wild card spot over Benny. I thought Salt Lake City was poised to really give me a run for my money 2 seasons ago but he's made some moves that have hurt his team IMO. |

I don't care who goes where or ends up in what place or whatever. I jsut want another shot at you in the NLCS.
I know your team is a lot better this year with Ramirez. But I also know my team is about 10x better than it was last season, and I think we'd actually show up in the series. |

We're looking forward to it
Having Ramirez as well as adding rookie Robin Becker to my lineup have both added another dimension to my team this year. Being able to pitch Ramirez 3 times in a 7 game series is almost unfair...but I won't complain I guess. |

You can't do it twice. That's coming from a friend, not a rival.
If you only pitch him once in the NLDS, you can pitch him 3 times in the NLCS. But if you get to the world series, he won't be close to full rest for a 3rd start in the world series. If you can get away with only pitching him 3 total times before the world series, you can start him in games 1, 3 & 6 in the world series, and more than likely avoid game 7 all together. 9 years of Ramirez experience has taught me every possible playoff scenario with that guy. It's not as easy as you think, because you get so worked up worrying about starting him that you sometimes don't utilize the rest of your rotation correctly (that's why I only won 2 championships with him in 9 seasons). |

Congrats Jeff. Please please please please please beat pvc in the world series. I can't stand to see that guy get WS #5.
I tried a new strategy this postseason against Ramirez. Maybe its not a new strategy, I dunno, I never played the guy in the playoffs before. I threw my 'worst' starter against him in games 1 & 4, and had my #1/2 guys lined up for games 2, 3, 5 & 6. It didn't work. Although if not for those fucking thomson errors, I'd ahve gone 3-1 in games not started by Ramirez, which considering the rest of CSP is pretty damn good, I'll take that everytime we play in the postseason, and just hope I can steal a Ramirez start. See you in next years NLCS. |

Thanks - hard to believe we never met in the playoffs before last season and now have battled for the pennant the last 2 seasons. Possibly a nice little
rivalry taking hold to replace Pawtucket/Texas.
Like I mentioned in the World Chat - having Ramirez available for games 1, 4, and 7 in the World Series should be huge. Pvc has a great lineup but I'm not particularly nervous about his pitching. As long as Ramirez holds serve I'll feel pretty good about grabbing a win from one of Trevor Miles or Johnny Cordova's starts. I'd love to grab my first title over pvc too - icing on the cake. It probably was a good pitching strategy you used against Ramirez. My 2 losses were games that Miles started which I thought would be my strength (having an ace like him as my "#2") But I think I only had to face Frank Harris once the entire series which was huge for me. I needed to grab a lead to avoid having to play catch up against him. |

That was definitely the difference in the series. He's an automatic final six outs in the postseason (his career postseason numbers make mariano look like
mitch williams). Avoiding him like you did killed me.
Speaking of him, next season he'll finally hit 802 IP for his career, and will immediately take over the top spot in career ERA, whip & k/9. |
