Posts: 16648 07/21/2009 5:29 PM Captain America	Seriously though OP, I think you're crazy if you don't sign Ramirez. Odds are you'll win at least 1 WS in the next 5 years, with or without him. With Ramirez, seasons 11-15 for CSP might start to look like seasons 1-6 did for KC, or seasons 4-8 for me, or seasons 7-10 for Jacksonville. Aka - dynasty. I don't want to see anyone but me get him, obviously. But I won't lie, I like when people from the board win. So if I can't have him, and there has to be a new SW dynasty, I'd definitely want it to be one of you guys.

Posts: 3145 07/21/2009 9:29 PM Oh Ay Aaargh	well I have to get there first - still another 30 games but I was up 3 for best record after lunch today (haven't checked pm2 yet). I'm pretty sure I'll go for him at this point but I'm trying not to get too worked up about it because the odds of finishing with the best record aren't better than 50/50 at this point - too much can happen. I did send in a ticket in to make sure on the tie breaker if multiple teams offer max contract. They said it is pretty much always going to be the team with better record from previous year but if the team that owned him last year is one of the offers and is very close to best record then there is a small chance he'll stay with them. To me though, that sounds like a cop out just so they dont' say its is programmed one way for sure. Either way, Charlotte is about 13 games below me at this point so its a moot point for that. Plus I'd only be giving up the 32nd pick by signing C-Ram and will probaby get one pick back for losing Antone Robbins (and his $9 million salary). Its going to be really interesting down the stretch though this year. I'm thinking instead people resting their stars for the playoffs - people are going to be going all out to secure best overall record in an attempt to snag Mr. Cy Young.

I'm only about 7 games out without Ramirez. If I had his 22-4 record in my rotation instead of Osvaldo Johnson's 5.17 ERA, I'd probably have the best record, or close enough to assure myself of keeping him. That kind of sucks.

Posts: 16651 07/21/2009 11:14 PM Captain America	I must say, though, I'm very happy with how my team is playing this year. Considering (to my standards) my rotation is in shambles. Currently on pace to get a first round bye. It's going to be a tight final stretch, but my schedule definitely works in my favor. Texas (2 games), San Fran (3), New York (4), Rochester (3), Cleveland (3), Scranton (3), Tuscon (4), Memphis (4), Huntington (3), Norfolk (3). I honestly see no reason why I can't go 22-10 or so down the stretch and lock up that #2 seed. My team certainly needs the rest. But I'm going balls to the wall to make sure I get it.

Bearclan just informed me he's not returning (he's an original owner), and has said if we find someone who wants in now they can take over his team asap. Logan is also not coming back, work's getting too hectic for him. Time for new owners. Any of you know anybody?

Speaking of Cleveland, I was too lazy to get a large sample size from the entire league, but I figured out that I went 43-28 after the allstar break. I knew Cleveland had been playing much better ball lately, but I was surprised to learn they went 42-29 after the break. That's definitely not a team to be overlooked.

Posts: 3155 08/02/2009 10:02 AM Oh Ay Aaargh	55-16 since the all-star break I always play better in the 2nd half for some reason though. I think its because I rest so many players early on that I'm still at 100% down the stretch while playing teams with players in the low 90s. I don't think I know more than 2 or 3 players on Richmond's team. Don't konw how the heck they ended up the 2 seed - totally caught me by surprise. Not sure who I'd rather face between SLC and Cleveland. Cleveland has been hot but SLC made a lot of deadline deals to improve their club. I think I'd kinda like to beat benny down but I'd never hear the end of it from him if he beat me LOL. I'll probably just root for a nice long 5 game series to wear them both down.

I played my guys down the stretch with the knowledge that they'd get 9 days of rest before their first playoff game. Now I'm screwed for the playoffs. I don't think I'm going to get past New Orleans. I'm still seeing a New Orleans-Colorado Springs NLCS with Charlotte awaiting the winner in the world series.

Posts: 16694 08/05/2009 9:56 AM Captain America	Calling Bader/Wustrow/LDI- I'm leaving Friday morning for the weekend, won't be back until after pm2 on Sunday. If my team is somehow still alive, can any of you babysit my team? It'd only be for game 5 of NLDS & games 1-4 of NLCS. You'd have to check my staff after every cycle to make sure my rotation is OK (since I use a 3 man rotation in the playoffs), and if not be prepared to throw in an emergency starter (I'dgive full details). I didn't want to ask fury b/c I know he's busy with work, and didn't want to ask OP/tele b/c they may be my opponent. Also, we need a replacement for Logan. Anybody know of one?
