I just recently downloaded the O.A.R concert from Alfred, NY that I took my daughter to see last month and before they played To Zion Goes I, Marc bantered with some kids near the stage and asked them if this was their first concert - they said no - Marc found it cool that these kids were only 12 and had been to more than one of their concerts. I took my daughter to her first O.A.R concert last year at age 8 - she enjoyed the show in Canandaigua and totally loved the concert in Alfred - dancing and singing along to a lot of the songs - especially when they played Shattered - her favorite song. When I listen to this concert, I chuckle to myself - especially with the banter with the crowd and these kids - because this is the appeal in my opinion of seeing O.A.R live - they have fun, Marc interacts with the crowd and he does some storytelling about the songs - and you feel good at the end of the show! They are kid-friendly and I feel they are genuinely awed over the fact that they are appealing to an even younger crowd than they expect. My daughter and I am sure a lot of young kids may not understand the meaning of the lyrics - but what they do understand is that the songs are fun, easy to move to and once again - they have a way of making you feel good when the music is over. Isn't this what Marc always states at each concert - he wants to going to home feeling better than when you arrived?! Their music hits me - I enjoy it and I feel better afterwards - especially through the rough times I have had lately. My son is 3 now - I am hoping O.A.R is still putting out great music in five years because Liam will be there enjoying their music right along with his sister and me!
ps Hey Marc - I know who Saigon Kick is and that had to been a great concert you and Chris saw all those years ago!
