What would of McCain done differently than Obama? Just curious. Serious question, not looking to bait you or anything. I'm curious to see what you believe
republicans would have done differently in regards to the economy and foreign issues.

Ha better than Obama, the dude drove the country into the ground, why do you think it was such a cakewalk of a campaign for obama? McCain being an incompetent
fool and having Palin as his running mate helped but Bush fucked things up so bad that the Dems could have run trig palin against him and won citing Trig as
having a higher IQ than Dubya.

ok, let's not get into the debate about whose fault it was... most economists don't pin this on bush, so don't try to message board blame him. to
get really frank, the catalyst was the mortgage crisis, which was caused by defaults of mortgages created by plans put in place by clinton to loosen
restrictions on mortgages. with fannie and freddie backing down to 580 credit scores (which, btw, have a 30% risk with them), we should have seen this coming a
mile away.
if you want to go further back, look at greenspan (who, btw, raises his hand and takes some responsiblity like a man). he created policies (like credit default swaps) that fundamentally changed the underlying risk but didn't actually change pricing to reflect such. having hugely low interest rates on risky assets and creating instruments to fundamentally reward default was just stupid. of course, it's easy to say in hindsight, but again, that's NOT GW's fault mortgages default, creating a serious liquidity crisis. that led to banks tightening restrictions and not lending out money. without float money, or with higher rate float money due to risk pricing changing, many businesses have margin pressures. margin pressures cause layoffs. honestly, it was a perfect storm of financial issues that put us here, NOT GW. |

not to mention, several dems (ahem frank) ignored the attempts to thwart fannie and freddie several years ago. its called greed, and everyone was a part of it.

What would of McCain done differently than Obama? Just curious. Serious question, not looking to bait you or anything. I'm curious to see what you believe republicans would have done differently in regards to the economy and foreign issues.Actually, if a president would've gone into the office and just stood there, he would have done less damage than Obama. But specifically, mccain wouldn't have had a bloated budget, a spending spree disguised as a stimulus, he wouldn't be pushing nationized health care, he wouldn't have pushed cap/trade, and he would've stood up for hte Iranians freedom. How's that? When people are losing jobs and there is uncertainty, you don't start springing potentially huge expenses on business owners. Why would any company hire people now when they think they might get slaughtered with a) higher health care expenses b) taxes from cap/trade c) taxes on overseas profits (what obama calls "a loophole"). Oh yeah, and why would "rich" small business owners put more employees on when their accountant has run the numberes on how much obama is giong to be fleecing them soon. What idiots on this message board don't understand, is that S-Corps (most small businesses) profits flow to the personal tax return. So if your business made $150k on top of a salary of $150k, you are "rich". Even though the $150k is cash in your business that could get used for buying inventory or hiring people. Instead, it's going to the gov't. Or at least they are preparing for it to go to the gov't. So what could have mccain done? Nothng and the economy would've been in better shape. Obama has lost millions of jobs, quadrupled the deficit, brought unemployment to the highest levels in 25 years. If you pin everything over the last 8 years on bush, give credit to everything clinton did during his eight years, then obama takes responsibilty for his term. Thanks for comin out! I think obama won for a lot of reasons. 1) For the same reason al gore lost to GWB. People tire of the people in command. 2) People were too captivated by obama's words and not his record (liberal). There were f*in idiots on this board that have never heard of obama prior to the 04' speech who posted "Obama in 08" after the DNC convention. That's how you know that you're dealing with a bunch of morons. Most idiots on this board who are obama nuthuggers don't know shit about what he stands for. 3) Mccain wasn't a good candidate. They are so imcompentent in the white house. They said they were going to wait to see how things progressed. How bout throwing some support behind them. Donny "T-bone" Righteous
