Well I am pulling for Phil but I hope it comes down to Phil and Tiger. Right now the course is under water, I don't think this sucker is gonna start
today.

My boss is there. He wasn't allowed to bring his Blackberry out on the course, which is ruining my day.

I swear to God I'm not trying to be a douche, but it's technically the "U.S. Open"...the "US Open" is the tennis one. It's all
really dumb

^correct. When I went to the BMW in St. Louis last year, they made us catch buses out at Verizon wireless amphitheatre. They wouldn't let you on the bus if
you had a cellphone/smartphone/pda.

I've never been to a PGA event. Why can't you bring a cell phone on the course? Is it just so you get no calls to interupt swings and what not?

yes and phones just don't belong on a golf course period, end of discusison
i hate golfing with people that feel they are that important that they need to make a call every hole |

the first time i was out this year, right before my buddy went to tee off he got a call, it was a huge job offer out in cali, he accepted it, dropped his
phone, laced one down the center, walked over to his cart without saying a word and pulled out a bottle of JD which we passed around and did shots from. it was
pretty baller.

Changing the subject a bit. I have to rant a little bit about ESPN's coverage. Watching it, you would think that Tiger is the only person on the course.
Yesterday, after the rain delay, they said, "And when we come back, we will break down Tiger's first 6 holes shot by shot." What the fuck!? I
know that he is amazing and that he will probably win the tournament, but there is absolutely no need to highlight his 4 pars, 1 double, and a birdie when
there are 30 other guys out there who probably hit more quality shots than Tiger. They should spend this down time spotlighting some of the other players so
that on Sunday, when Tiger is losing to some no name like Michael Sim (who has actually torn up the Nationwide this year and could contend well at the Open),
the world is not completely shocked. I know it's a long-standing problem, but I feel like it's worse this year than ever before.

I don't think it's a "problem" per se. ESPN is covering it to get ratings. Tiger generates ratings. I think that undeniable. If I was running
the network I'd probably do it the same way. There are so many casual fans that only really care what Tiger is doing. Those of us that want to see how
everyone is doing out there are going to watch no matter what anyway. No reason for them to cater to the minority. Luckily I enjoy watching Tiger so it
doesn't bother me but I can see how it would be annoying to others. That said, it's easy to see why they do it.
