hey i just got back from the show, well I was at both shows actually and stayed in Chicago Thursday night. Amazing sets obviously. No Stories of a Stranger
Friday night, I think. This hasn't been mentioned, but the setlist was definitely changed because of the weather. There was originally supposed to be an
acoustic set followed by the new lighting but the rain changed that. There wasn't enough time to put up the backdrop after the rain stopped and they took
down the new hanging screens before the show started and thus just did away with the acoustics. You could see the stage manager changing out the setlists on
stage before the show.
On a side note, I didn't have that good of a time Friday night because of the crowd. Thursday was fine but Friday was horrible. I was on the rail both nights but closer to the middle on Friday. I expect drunk idiots and some pushing but this was ridiculous. My ribs are sore from being pushed into the rail. Also, I introduced my girlfriend to o.a.r. a few months ago when we met and though she likes them now, its not like she knows all the words to every song yet. She was on the rail with me. Some girls behind us kept asking to get on the rail with us and of course we said no (I mean we were at the venue since 3) and then they started hitting my girlfriend in the head. I told them to knock it off and so did security. It was obviously on purpose. Then one of the girls kept pinching my back and also digging her knuckles into it as well. They were also purposely screaming right in our ears (like inches away) on purpose to annoy us. I moved behind my girlfriend to get them to stop hitting and one of the girls seriously kept hitting my girl in the face as she was pretending to move her arm to the music. Security saw it and told her to stop and I was like "what the f***". I had to physically push this girl's arm the rest of the show away from my gf's face. She didn't like that and kept yelling at me about it and I ended up calling her a f'n bitch and she stopped talking to me. What was I supposed to do? Hit a girl? No. Then she tried to get this guy to kick my ass or something but he just looked at me like she was crazy. This girl was then giving my girlfriend shit for not knowing all the words to Delicate Few and was telling her to leave. Understandably, my gf is upset and doesn't want to go to another o.a.r. show. On top of all that, I couldn't enjoy the amazing show. I couldn't enjoy the last 6 or so songs at all. COD is one of my fav. songs and I can hardly remember it cuz of that girl. This was my 7th show and have been waiting to hear get away but couldn't even listen to it. Those girls really ruined the concert for me completely. Thanks o.a.r fans. And thanks to security of doing nothing when they knew what was going on.

Yeah that really sucks. I was on the rail, little off to the right again. No major problems, fights erupted behind me but I ignored them. My ribs do kind of
hurt too though. Besides that though, what can I say? I saw two pretty amazing concerts back to back. I think they repeated only one song both nights and that
was shattered, what more can I ask for?

Last right was unreal, however I will agree with the comments about the crowd. I have stood on the rail almost every time I have been to a show and that was by
far the most I have ever been pushed. After I pushed back hard once and almost knocked people over 6 rows back I stopped getting pushed as much.
I was standing dead front and center. Right before Get Away, when marc said they were going to play a really old song, I yelled out "Get Away" right as he was walking back to the mic. He gave a little chuckle and looked right at me just before he started playing it. I was surprised he could actually here me and pick me out. Overall, probably the best show I have been to.
Get out my town, bust your ass Mr. Brown hey oh ...

really awesome set last night. Obviously the weather changed things dramatically, but they certainly did not disappoint at all.
It was my first time just showing up whenever, got to the venue at about 5:30 and then went to a bar while there was the big delay. Showed up again around 9 or so and was about 3/4 of the way back in GA. Lots of room, no real pushing into us or anything. Everyone I was with had a great time, thanks to the band for putting that together in less than desirable conditions. |

(FUCKKKK have to rewrite all this...)
Thursday Soundcheck Setlist-this was awesome cuz they played significant parts of songs, basically a pre-show show Rhythm of Your Shoes GIFT!! Wanderer Full Song Acoustic Poker Full Acoustic Possible New Song Tease(video coming..) Ryan Adams' Hallelujah Tease Fool In the Rain w/RR Dinner Last Night What sounded like the end of On My Way extended jamming out with Robert Randolph Fool in the Rain Full w/RR Friday Soundcheck Setlist This Town Acoustic Full Lay Down> What is Mine both Acoustic Revisited> Night Shift Whatever Happened** Someone in the Road> Whose Chariot? Get Away Nasim Joon Sun Gonna Pick Me Up!!! **BTW whatever happened is the song where they added the Full Band instrumental stop right after Marc says "Spot this devil at the county line" and then over the silence he sings "And went no further!" Then they resume. super cool. I was hoping they would throw in Gift if they were feeling it and thought theyd play it Friday, but I guess it was a gametime decision at best. The rest of you have this to look forward to though!!! Sounded great in SC. Guessing they'll let it out sometime soon. Thursday- Seemed a little quieter crowd wise. Robert Randolph was crazy good, didn't stop once, played straight through. I love the beginning of the acoustic Wanderer. They didnt get to do it quite like they practiced cuz Jerry had some technical difficulties at the start. The acoustic sets really let Mikel and Chris showcase everything they've got. There were songs where Mikel played like 5 different instruments in one song, including his new little vibraphone thing. (I'm hoping for an acoustic Shattered sometime with the Kalimba doing the 3 note intro..) Also love the screens during Black Rock. I liked Marcs freestyle during Fools (Conquering that is..lol). Highlights were I Feel Home, On My Way(always), This Town, & obviously Fool in the Rain. Seemed like they did some extra build up at the end of War Song to get the crowd into it. Weather was miraculous! Friday- Great show. lots of fun. Crowd got kinda going fun outside the gates chanting and stuff(except for the drunken fight). Continued as the crew was working real hard to re-set up when Marc and Rich came out to "You Shook Me All Night Long" on the loudspeakers and waved and nonverbally thanked the crowd with a pre-show greeting. Rich taped it on the camera so it will prolly end up on the website. The crowd was all singing and rocking out. Marc had a lot of great freestyles, mostly centering around the rain and such. I like Here's To You a lot and Cage was awesome all around as always. Marc, Jerry, Rich were really on all night giving it a ton. Chris too. And Mikel rocked on djembe during Whatever Happened.. Rich did a ton of sweet guitar parts and solos using cool effects and stuff. Jerry was funky in his solos and held the build notes longer at some parts to get the crowd going. Rich got kinda bluesy for Chicago a few times and had one sweet riff where even Jerry kinda complimented him, during Shattered I believe. He did some sweet like soul/romantic little pulls and stuff during Hey Girl that I really dug. Marc also had some sweet parts over the band really loud at the end of Delicate Few and Get Away. |

Friday night was a great time. I didnt mind the rain. The fact that they continued on with the show made it all better in the end.
I too had alot of problems with the crowd. My girlfriend is short, about 5'2" and I'm rather tall at 6'4" so it is always a constant battle to make sure she can see and isnt getting shoved or hurt. Some dumb b*%^h poured her beer on my girlfriends head cause I kept telling her to get back. Jokes on her... that was an $11 beer stupid idiot. Can we still speculate on the possibility of a live cd/video recording of Thursday and Fridays performances? Between the gear that was setup to broadcast to the large side screens, and the guys running around in the front by security with cameras, one can certainly assume that there was something in the works? Thanks for a great show guys, and thanks to (most) of the fans it was a good time! Needless to say, last time I saw OAR at UofI, I had reserved seating. GA was a bad idea for my situation. |
