My wife and I are going to Vegas at the end of this week. I'm looking for suggestions on where I should take her out to a nice dinner. Any suggestions?
TIA.

what kind of food?
- for awesome steaks, try les artistes at paris OR SW at the wynn - for mediterranean, go to olives in bellagio (though, it's a chain so not sure if you want unique. todd english restaurants = goooood). it overlooks the fountains for a really unique view at dinner - for half pound hot dogs, go to circus circus. they're 0.99 of pig randomness - for the best wine selection, aureole at mandalay bay is awesome

i think greg will agree les artistes has awesome steaks. they also have one of the best caesar salads ever. mmmm
i added SW after i thought about it a bit... not as good on the steaks, but the ambiance and general level of female talent is much higher than at paris, which will be more stuffy |

What are some good restaurants in Vegas with non-baller prices? I'm going for 4 days next month and only have a work dinner one of those nights, so I need
ideas.
We're going to take the dam tour. |

tracey, there are several... just avoid the mega-strip-casino restaurants and you'll be fine.
for instance, Rio has an AWESOME italian place (martorano's) that is like $15-20 for entrees. if you have any say in your work dinner, try to get into rao's - it's the place that NOBODY can get into in new york (there are only like 12 tables) and opened a vegas one a few years back. best meatballs in the world |

Is it off-strip? Our work dinner is with clients who live in Vegas, so apparently they don't like dining on the strip.

For a great CHEAP meal (but damn good food and cheap cheap drinks) check out Ellis Island, which is basically behind Paris off the strip.

I saw Phil Ivey eating at Prime in the Bellagio a few years back. My meal was definitely more expensive than his, but you know, I don't even care about it.

what you failed to realize is that the green stuff on his pork chops isn't basil - its ground up $1000 bills. he also sweetens his ice tea with ground up
chips from bobby's room.

The wife will like stuffy. Thanks! and after a dinner at les artistes she is going to love you to stuffy her For a great CHEAP meal (but damn good food and cheap cheap drinks) check out Ellis Island, which is basically behind Paris off the strip. hilarious. every time i go to vegas i invariably end up eating at least one meal at ellis island out of tradition's sake. its definitely cheap and the food is decent although not really relative to the rest of the dining options in vegas. but, one of the most fun dinners we've ever had in vegas was at ellis island. Is it off-strip? Our work dinner is with clients who live in Vegas, so apparently they don't like dining on the strip. hmm, you could take them to one of the various chains that are off the strip i suppose. i'll forever rank my crab-stuffed salmon and garlic mashed potatoes dinner at mccormick & schmick's as one of the best ever. its off the strip east of caesar's. there's also a gordon biersch right in that area. understandably, neither of those are too exciting since they are both chains and what not, but they are off the strip, have good food and won't be too killer of a bill. |
