The announcement came via the just unveiled Shit Is Fucked Up Tour widget featuring a special message from "President" Holland. I don't like Alkaline Trio and haven't heard Shiny Toy Guns, but Street Dogs were good when I saw them at warped at the Gorge last summer.. Dropkicks, Pennywise, and Sum 41 are all outstanding shows. I was a big offspring fan back in the day, their new slower song is just eh... It doesn't seem right for them to be doing that kind of song and I'm afraid if I go see this show it'll be like when OAR got popular with the high school crowd (shitty.)

Posts: 8253 03/24/2009 10:41 AM	fuck sum 41, they blow. and wow irvine meadows eh? didn't think the offspring were that big. i will not be going, that's for sure. oh and shiny toy guns, while not my thing i will give mad props too. i saw them live once at a radio festival and it was a disaster. they got no soundcheck and had major gear issues (no keyboards worked which is where a lot of their sounds comee from). despite the gear issues, they did the best they could to play a full set, even busted out an acoustic guitar and sang very stripped versions of songs. i highly respected that they went down swinging. As I said, it was 7 years ago or so, only a couple years into their popularity. Their act was high energy and quite original, totally up staged the other 3 bands (one of which being Authority Zero which is another great act...) I saw them at 1st Ave. from the upper level on the rail right over the first couple rows of people so I don't know what the pits were like... I'd agree that one of their shows 2 years ago, probably wasn't that great...but 'in their prime' they killed it.

Posts: 2830 03/24/2009 12:42 PM	the new offspring album, Rise and Fall Rage and Grace is full of hits and misses, and "Kristy are you doing okay" the current radio single is very much dissimilar to their roots but is actually a quality tune. My favorites are. I saw them last summer with Jimmy Eat World, Pennywise, MGMT and Ludo and it was aresome looking forward to the MA date, and confused at the NH and no Hartford date but whatever.
