Hello everyone. I hope all of you have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July weekend. I'll be spending mine with family and hopefully blowing some stuff up in the back yard. The pyro in me has never died. I'll be spending my July month as I did when I was a kid; playing music in the basement, mowing the lawn, hanging at the pool, and going to Disney World. It's the quintessential Midwest summer.
The band had a great June run. Any time you can start a tour with your first sold out show at Red Rocks and end it with two magical nights in Chicago, you're going to feel pretty good. Speaking of Chicago, we recorded both nights in hopes of having another live release by year's end. I have spent hours upon hours going over these tapes and I have to say that I, along with the rest of the band, am very happy. There are wonderful moments on those tapes created both on the stage and off. I can't wait for all of you to hear them.
I'm sure some of you have noticed but things look a little different up there on stage. We wanted this to be a big summer for all of you and felt it was time for us to change things up a little. I love the way the acoustic set is feeling and the video is really giving the show a whole new dynamic.
The Green Dream team really knocked it out of the park. We were able to make a significant impact in every city with the help of the local volunteers. This program is proof that you can make a difference in your own community and that there are outlets out there that need you.
Our Twitter contest has been going strong. We received a ton of tweets, and each and every one has been read by Marc, as he puts the final version together. Please keep them coming. We love to see all of your creativity. It's inspiring.
LiveOAR.com has had a successful launch. Many of you visited the site to download a free copy of Red Rocks 2007 as well as checked out a lot of the shows from the past two years. We're constantly working on new ideas for the site and plan to roll out a few new features in the coming months.
We will be kicking off the remainder of the summer tour in Hartford on August 6th. June ended so strong, I can't wait to get back out and do some shows. The band feels electric and charged up on that stage, and it's coming out in the music. This is the summer to see O.A.R. and these upcoming shows are going to be some of the most special ones. We'll be in the boys' home state, at MSG (we've saved some things for this one), the East Coast, Carolinas (Haaay), Florida, and more. It's going to be a great summer for O.A.R. - THE Summer for O.A.R. I hope to see you all out there.
- Jerry
