As an employee (at least thru today) of WB, I don't think Dark Knight got snubbed. Never expected it. The biggest issue with the Oscars and their continued ratings slide is the disconnect between "hollywood" and "america". Lets use Milk as an example. Amazing film, amazing story, amazing acting by EVERYONE involved. However, you can't go to a place like Kansas and market Milk to families/Jesus freaks etc. Then again, these are the folks who make Four Christmases and Paul Blart Mall Cop the #1 movie in America.
So while The Dark Knight was amazing, is it Oscar worthy? Nope. Hell, it may not even be the best "comic" book movie of last year (Iron Man). What the academy looks for is solid films all around. Not popcorn fluff. I personally feel that Dark Knight falls somewhere between the two.
