i was wondering... i thought about people who have shown up around that age. do we know anyone who grew up without a father? charlie? others on the island?

I'm a little late on this... but I don't think it's comparable to Jesus because 1-Locke was going to kill himself, 2-he thought he had failed, and 3-he was talked out of it. 2 things I noticed... It seems like Kate is pushing Jack away because she's ready to get back to Sawyer (ie being distant after she spent the night before they left, and saying "just because we're on the same plane (referring to the oceanic 6) doesn't mean we're together). Shit is gonna hit the fan when they see each other. Also, don't forget that Faraday was in that first episode set back in time when they were building one of the Dharma stations... he was a miner.

i'm confused.. i thought the entire island was moving through time. how are are jack, kate, etc.. in 1977 while everyone else is in the present?

i'm confused by that too. theoretically, they should all be in 1977. i could even understand only kate, jack, sayid, hurley, sun and ben going back to 1977
and everyone else staying present day. it doesn't make sense that they were split up.

Well it makes sense that Ben wouldn't go back seeing as he was never on the plane and on top of that there would be the issue of him running into his 12
year old self or however old he would have been at the time. Sun on the other hand makes no sense to me at all unless she has some other connection to the
island that I'm sure they will keep us guessing about for awhile.

my guesses:
a) it has something to do with ji-yeon and/or aaron not returning to the island b) toddler sun is living with the dharma initiative last night's episode was the worst of the season so far. |

That was my guess as well, I bet somehow Sun was involved as a child. Her dad had the big bucks and was into some shady business, maybe he was a backer somehow
financially?
