Had mine for a full day now, Decided not to get the 3gs and save a little money since we dont even have 3g here yet.. Its everything i hoped it would be. best

Apparently I have till tonight to upgrade my iphone 3g (purchased late may) to the 3gs. Just not sure if I go to Best Buy where I purchased it, or to AT&T.

ed, it's up to your appetite for failure... i don't have it on this one and haven't had any issues. i got it for free on my first one and used it 3
times.
i think they've got the major hardware issues worked out, though, so my guess is the expected value of the $70 purchase is less than $70 |

They should just make it easier to make repairs and then it wouldn't cost so much. I think I'll probably skip it. Still deciding on a case. Probably
won't get the phone for a week or two.

My sister bought me the incase slider for my birthday today. I am eligible for the iphone on 7/3. I will be throwing my Q into Lake Michigan approximately 17
minutes after I get the iphone.

It seems clear to me they don't want folks upgrading. While I may try to "cheat the system" for a lack of better term tomorrow, this is what I
would have to do (per the local AT&T store). I would have to go to Best Buy, give them my iphone and have them transfer everything back to my old phone.
From there I get a voucher to go to the AT&T store, give it to them and get my iphone 3Gs in 2-3 months. Fuck that is not worth a video camera/compass.

it's not that they don't want people to upgrade - they heavily subsidize the phone. it's a $500 piece of equipment that they sell for $200. they
recoup the delta with monthly fees over 2 years. if they let you upgrade earlier, they lose out on the recovery.

I am really having a hard time deciding if i want a case. I hate cases on things and i take good care of my items. I just dont want a case to detract from the
look and feel of it. Does everyone HIGHLY recommend a case?

looks like it would cling every piece of lint in your pocket it could find while i WISH i could use a slim cover like jay i work in a machine shop and play hard.... meaning if i drop mine to the floor sharp metal chips will make a gash into the covering....and leave a mark on the screen or case. i dropped mine outside my truck one time two and the face hit the payment first and sure enought there were rocks that left little imprint.... so i went looking for a new case... incase slide has a buffe for the screen if you drop it onto the groudn or whatever face first. and while a diret drop from 5 ft for an electronic might kill it if you try and stop the fall with your feet all you have to worry about is scratches which the slider works perfectly for. for the average person you don't get much better then the slider. now i have since found a baderbaderbaderbaderbader approved case. otterbox makes it my brother in law uses it at his machine shop and it's the closest thing you can get to bullet proof. but there are some draw backs, price, it's 2x to 3x bigger then the slider and it's not water proof but it would be nice. i like the otterbox but the slider has the best of everything.... incase slider-tangus approved:-p

the metal etternity collection offers NO protection for the screen if you drop it on the face
=fail applecare is not recommended IMO and here is why the phoen coems with a 1 year warratny before the 1year warratny is up drain the battery go to the apple store and tell them your battery life sucks...tell them it's been this way for a month. they will swap you out for a refurbished iphone same everything. now you have a brand new phone AND the 70 dollars you would have spent on applecare in your pocket. best of both worlds applecare doesn't really cover any STUPID stuff like dunking it in water or rolling over it with a car, so save your money. now for a laptop or ipod applecare is indespensible bc it covers them for 3years, yes 3 years not just 2 like the iphone. and after the 3 year period you get a brand new one, laptop or ipod bc they don't make the older parts anymore.....i know been there done that. applecare is great for ipod laptop
