i didnt say she wasnt hot and i love me some boobies but it was just too much. as far as the ending, the movie would have to have been quite a bit longer to go
with the original ending.

I didn't say anything about too much sex. Not sure how you're turning this into some sort of rant about what's wrong with America.
I'm just saying as far as the story goes, I don't think it was necessary to show that entire sex scene. It seemed corny to me, with hallelujah in the background, and unnecessary to the plot of the story to show it for as long as they did and in as much detail as they did. |

I thought it did a good job of staying as close to the original story as possible. The dialogue was taken almost word for word out of the novel and used in the
film. Plus since you had the illustrator for the novel work on the film, the scenes and images were very close to their originals.

I love how rev rails against violence but can't accept any argument against the use of sex in a movie. Doesn't matter if it slows down the plot or is
in there for no reason, there are boobs to be seen, dammit! edited for grammar.

I saw it this afternoon - thought it was good, not great.
I couldn't get over how many people brought little kids. It was definitely an adult movie.

Spoilers, sort of:
I must be in the minority here. Saw it tonight and wasn't impressed with alot of it. The fight scenes were unneccessarily violent, and I generally enjoy film violence. There was just no reason for alot of it. And the sex scene was just like Sharkey said, gratuitous and, well, cheesy. The flame coming out of the owlship at the end? Seriously? Why didn't they just show a train going through a tunnel? The director went ridiculously out of his way to film scenes shot-for-shot from the book and then changes the ending, which was disappointing at best. While the soundtrack may make for a good mix tape, are we serious about how the songs were put into the movie? Hallelujah for the sex scene? Watchtower for flying to the Antarctic Fortress? 99 Luftballoons? Strangely, I actually enjoyed The Times They Are a Changing as the intro song. The best part of the entire film was Rorshach. He was the only character/actor that came across as well on screen as in the book. When he wasn't on the screen, I was pretty much completely disinterested. I like that Mickey from Seinfeld was Big Figure. Also, if you look to the right in the first scene where Adrian Veidt was watching all the monitors, one of them is girl-on-girl porn. But my biggest problem with the film is that if I hadn't read the book, I don't think I would have had any idea what was going on. The storytelling was disjointed at best, merging flashbacks with dream sequences while jumping between character narratives that never truely captured the psychological profiles that made the book so great. |

I thought the same thing as you Pat, that if I hadn't read it I'd have been lost. But two of the girls I went with had never read the book, or even
heard of it until like a month ago. They both loved the movie, and said while it was confusing at parts, they both understood what was going on basically the
entire time.

If I hadn't read the book I would have been confused as hell too, but I did read the book, several times. Been a Watchmen fan for years and thought the
movie was FTS! A book that so many over the years have called, "unfilmable" was proven wrong by Snyder. I loved all the easter eggs planted
throughout for the book fans and I think the fact that so many frames in the film were the exact frames from the book is a great thing, not a negative. Look
it's a movie - sex and violence puts butts in the seats. I had no problem with any of it. It did nothing to alter or take away from the story. I actually
had no issues the liberties that snyder took with the ending. It was dumbed down a bit for the casual viewer, but still stayed true to the message.
Is it an oscar movie? hell no. But it was better than 98% of the other shit that keeps getting released and I"m not sure any other director could have done a better job with the material than Snyder did. |

i havent read the book.
I liked it. It was long. The violence was cool. I felt that the sex scene was a little long. did they really need to have multiple positions? Also, the titles were very cool with Bob Dylan. |

the opening credits with the dylan song was a great way to tell some of the back story of the old heroes.

mphafl0 wrote: how can you say in one sentence that the plot was so mutilated that you wouldn't have been able to follow it without reading the source material, and then in the next two praise the director as being faithful to that source? I don't think it was a terrible film or anything, I just didn't think it was up to snuff. just my opinion. |

first, you're putting words in mouth. never said the plot was mutiliated. but to me the book was jumbled fucking mess. It took me at least 2-3 reads before
I completely grasped everything trying to go on.
you said: "The storytelling was disjointed at best, merging flashbacks with dream sequences while jumping between character narratives" To me - that was the book the first couple times I read it. granted I was much younger when I first read Watchmen, but I found the book to be more disjounted than the film to be honest. To me the bouncing around, long dialogue sequences, etc were many of the reasons people called the book unfilmable. I think snyder did a great job making the movie flow without sacrificing any of the critical plot points. |

What I hated about this movie:
- What the fuck was a methed-out clay aiken doing in this movie... Rorshack (sp) was pretty cool - Too much man ass - Too much blue ding-dong - 2.5 hours to get to the ending What I liked about this movie: - It ended (it took me a while to find something I liked) - Tits

i enjoyed it, thought it was better than I anticipated. i do agree with the too much cock comments, i mean seriously, its like every time you see blue dude
walking
movie was entertaining, didn't even seem like it was nearly 3 hours to me.....i have never read the graphic novels, so have nothing to compare it to also, saw it at 10:00, run time just under 3 hours...movie was over just before 1:00 AM....WHO THE FUCK TAKES AN CHILD, NO OLDER THAN 3, TO SEE THIS MOVIE AT THAT TIME, OR JUST TO SEE IT IN GENERAL? The kid was screaming for a few minutes at the beginning of the movie and she took him out, thought it was over but sure as shit 20 minutes later they came back in....13 years from now that motherfucker is going to kill us all because his crackhead mom took him to see that movie at age 2
