donny - i stand for most tenants in the republican party with exception of
a) abortion rights. women should be able to choose, especially in special situations (rape, etc.) b) gay rights. why shouldn't all have the right to be legally recognized as a couple and receive the same health benefits, etc. it's those 2 issues that the far right is holding onto and the republican leadership, at least in the last election, made the mistake of pandering to that small interest. i don't have the stats off the top of my head, but something like 80%+ of the country feels that gays should get the right to civil union... why the party, especially mccain, backed off their stance and moved further right is beyond me. |
