If you really are mobile constantly, be careful. Otherwise, Edge is fine for google maps, email, and twitter.

Ed, I use EDGE only and its fine. I'm by a computer most of the day anyway.

Ed, I use Edge on my iPhone a lot, and it works great. It's a little slow, but we still used it to navigate on the whim in Denver and Chicago. It's
totally fine for the Google Maps app. I actually got service through Loveland Pass.

Basically it boils down to a superior phone on a subpar network vs a subpar phone on a superior network. Hmm.

I still don't know why Apple just chose one carrier. I mean, the Blackberry Curve has a version for every major network -- why couldn't Apple have done
this?

"Sometimes I reflect on all the beer I drink and I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. So I think, 'It is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'" BABE RUTH

ed, i'll argue that at&t isn't inferior to verizon's network... i get coverage in more places on my mobile than i do on my aircard. plus, you
can use the iphone internationally and verizon is a US only carrier.
i'm pissed the sirius app doesn't have stern. wtf is that? |

Alright, most likely placing my order for 16gb 3gs today. Is there a highly recommended case that I should have, or other accessories?

I like the bulk. It gives me something to hold onto. But I wouldn't mind trying that Invs Shield on my next phone.

The best buy reviews are less than favorable. User error?

definitely user error - it takes patience and a bit of skill to install. if you get it, let me know. the trick is to overload the back with the spray so that
you can move it around once you put it on there. if you don't do that, you end up stretching the cover and potentially not being able to re-use it.

doesn't that just protect against scratches? i am way too clumsy for that. i also have the incase slider (it's tangus approved) and whatever anti-glare
screen they sell at the apple store

that's my setup kate. I've dropped it twice in a parking lot and it might have been a goner had it not been for my slider case.

I have an Incipio case. Plain and simple, so I like it.
Also, Drunk Mel has dropped her iPhone plenty. Not long distance falls, but lots of concrete ones. iPhone holds up wayyyy better than you think. |

i've dropped mine and it's fine. the cases aren't really that shock absorbent, either. if you drop something from 5 feet, a piece of shit plastic
isn't going to do much. think about dropping an egg with a plastic coating - the shit's still going to break.
the fact is, the engineering in the iphone is pretty solid - there aren't moving parts, so the likelihood of failure on a small drop is slim. my biggest concern would be the glass screen... i can see a case helping that IF you dropped it face first. however, that's a risk i'm willing to take in order to avoid the 1/4'' increase in girth |
