I bought a Fender DG100 within the past year and love it.....disregard the negative comments about fender acoustics.

beginner?
i recently bought a hohner acoustic- does the job for me- it's got a nice sound for a beginner guitar and is reasonably priced- im not exactly going to be performing for anyone any time soon... |

since we are on the topic. I JUST bought my first guitar ever on Thursday and am beginning to learn the basics. Anyone know of any great websites other than
ultimate-guitar.com that have lessons for beginners. I'm having a lot of fun with it and learn the intro to whose chariot today.

I play a Larrivee 03 series, which is a handmade auditrium guitar from a dude in Vancouver. I absolutely love it. The sound is amazing. I also had a Taylor
314ce, and that had impeccable sound as well but my Larrivee sounds much much better. I believe that cost around $12-1300 (the husband paid so I really
don't know)

I've never heard of Larrivee so I decided to look into them. They look gorgeous and the reviews were great... I couldn't find any sound clips or
anything though. Does it sound similar to anything or any musicians use it?

Strummer if you are willing to spend that much money... Then I think you should have a good idea of what you want.

The most important thing to look for is TONE. Secondly I would make sure that you like the TONE of the guitar, and third... well you guessed it. Of course you
want to make sure that the playability of the guitar is up to par as well, and it doesn't hurt if it's a good looking instrument. Learn about tone
woods and what differences they have. Rosewood yields a deeper tone than that of Mahogany or Maple. Koa is a great medium. In the $1500-2500 price range you
could buy just about any style of guitar you want, with just about any wood combination, from just about any manufacturer. Look at and play on a variety of
things. I personally like Taylor guitars for the expression system, and Martin for a more folky-rootsy sound. Hope this helps a little bit at least.

I still have my original Ovation, my next guitar will be a Taylor....
I still go by the belief that there are a couple ranges of guitars (beginner, intermediate, professional quality) and that you pick your range, play all the guitars you can, and buy the one that feels the best. |
