Would anyone happen to have a picture of Rich's pedalboard with a good view of the actual pedals. I've posted this once without any decent results so
i though i'd ask again. Thanks.

This is Joe Vedder's site. A friend of the band and a fantastic photographer. Scroll through here, it is your best bet...

adrianheh wrote: Did anyone notice that on MSG2 and most of their live shows since SOAS, his guitar sound has been awful. I'm not criticizing his playing, but he's using these horribly stuffy distortions as if he's trying to make the jump to "arena-rcok" guitarist with a big distortion sound, but it just isn't a good guitar sound. I'd love to know what he was using backin the Risen/In Between Now and Than Days. |

CBlock is right in my opinion. It just sounded too crunchy in Risen (listen to how it doesn't even sustain in the pre-chorus). His guitar tone from 34th
and 8th sounded a bit more natural for his style of playing, and seemed to fit the songs better.

yea 34th was def different. but Richard still held it down during most songs. his solo in Mr. Brown, Untitled, and Hey Girl were all good.

elemenop wrote:Hey man - love the observation. I definitely agree that his sound has changed dramatically. Here is why I dont hate his "new" sound - he used to use a very bright sound with a lot of delay.... and it works, but I always had reservations as I think delay is a crutch to fill in gaps in one's playing (I know it does for me). These days his sound is more 'arena rock', but it is also more feels a little less processed - a little more raw to me. As in, he doesnt need the delay to carry any gaps. And for that reason, I think I like it. I am quite drunk at time of writing - and I love to talk about shit like this - so please feel free to argue with me.
