^^^Agreed. Also, it length is a pro. Perfect song for the end of the great CD or a good show, when you really need it to keep going with a little bit of climb and fill your musical apetite. I love the song and I'm amazed with Saratoga.

Nice post.

I always felt "Whose Chariot?" is one of their best live songs by far (Studio good as well). It has everything though. It has a story, it has some freestyling, it has a MONSTER performance from Jerry, Chris and Benj kill it, it has some jamming.

I've been really critical about the band lately, and flat out, I'm sorry. I just heard Saratoga and OH MY ________! ITS _____ INCREDIBLE! Its the best thing they've ever done and if you don't have it, get it. They've improved so much as musicians and Rich's guitar sound is a little better than the MSG days.

My favorite song is Whose Chariot, one of the few songs that for me, was perfect in studio and while one of OAR's best live songs, never as good...

That is all sound board. Some shows you can hear an effect on the vocals, such as at Hartford and he shook his head signaling to the SB to take it off.

EDIT:

Could have also been added to the vocal track when they were mixing the CD.

When Marc uses the echo effect at the concerts, example would be, MSG 2 Aboout Mr. Brown at 3:52, does he do that with a pedal, or do the sound board people control that?

Very simple. The band records the song. They they bring in better musicians to dub all their parts to make it perfect.

These are musicians with a better sense of rythm and frankly, more ability. Open up SOAS and read the long list of guest musicians. Watch the IBNT DVD and you'll see the band playing in studio. You'll also see some old producer guy with (if I remember correctly) a retro Braves hat playing drums, bass and I think guitar (I forgot). I don't...

Elmeo what I don't understand then is why are the guys in the booth? Why do you see Benj playing the bass-line or Jerry on the sax etc. If they aren't going to make the final cut, or if someone else is going to do it, why does the band itself for months play it and record it?

I know bands will hire better musicians to play for the studio version of an album. (Musicians who are better at keeping time, etc.)
